Samsung Hdtv suddenly has a black screen and no sound?

Could anyone tell me what is wrong with my television? It is an Hdtv Samsung, about two years old. I turned it on today for about ten minutes and then the screen just went black and all the sound is gone. It only turns on and off but nothing comes out in the screen. Does anyone know what is wrong with it or what I could do about it? Thanks!!

Would be helpful if you tell us if it’s an LCD, plasma, etc. Maybe one of your cables has gone bad, ex. your HDMI, component, or coaxial may need replacing.
