How much resolution should a 40″ LCD have? cause my Samsung looks like crap.?
My new Samsung has 780p and it’s a 40inch LCD TV. And with certain scenes from non HD shows or even playing a DVD on my non HD/Bluray DVDplayer it looks horrible! Like alot of the picture is not sharp and looks worse than my old normal TV set. Whats the deal? Should I have more resolution on a 40″ TV?
The problem is not that you don’t have enough TV resolution. The problem is that you have TOO much TV resolution for the standard-def signal you try to watch.
Analog TV is 480i or about 240 lines per field. These 240 lines are now scaled up to 720, so you see all the noise in glorious detail. Analog TV will look even worse on a 1080p TV.
So, make sure you watch Digital TV (off-the-air, satellite. or digital cable)
