How to hook up a HDTV and regular TV to 1 HD Dish Network receiver?

Our regular TV has a broken coax and can only be hooked up to the receiver via the yellow, red, and white cables. Will our HDTV be able to receive HD programming if it’s not directly hooked up to the Hd Receiver?

Your TV can only receive HD programming from Dish if it is connected to an HD receiver using either an HDMI or Component (Red & Green & Blue + Red & White) cable.

You cannot get an HD signal through composite (Yellow + Red & White) or through coaxial.

You must connect the HDTV directly to the HD receiver using HDMI or Component. You may also be able to connect the secondary TV simultaneously with composite.

If your satellite receiver / set-top box does not have an HDMI, DVI and/or Component connection, it is not an HD receiver.

Note: You can still receive Over-The-Air HD broadcasts provided that you have an antenna and your HDTV has an ATSC/digital tuner (it should do).
