i want some good surround sound speakers for as cheap as i can get. what would you recommend

so I just bought a 40 "Samsung HDTV and when I connect my DVD player, the sound does not work. but the image and the video is good. is the HDMI cable? I need another cable for audio?

I have a Samsung Series 550 40 "LCD HDTV. I already have my PS3/Cable Box / DVD player connected to their inputs. I wii connected to the rear, which displays the image in black and white with sound, but can not be to reconfigure the entrance to the right so that the Wii will be in color. PLEASE HELP!
